Palm Pre Flow Commercial

Let me tell you how much I’ve grown to hate this commercial for a produce I rather like. The Palm Pre is slick, well designed and an attractive buy but at no point does this commercial tell you that the Palm Pre is also a phone within a smartphone. There is no card, there is no mention, there are some photos of kids but that’s it. Perhaps it’s now implied that a fancy internet thing has a phone (duh?) but I don’t know if an implication is enough for moms, dads and the non-tech savy to really understand that Pre=Phone=Web. 

If I were on my last legs as a company with a halo product I’d make damn sure my ad campaign said phone in the damn commercial. Is it just me? Do 1,000 monks say phone in some language?

Five years ago your told Jimmy Fallon is hosting a late night show and ?uestlove is going to be the house band and they’re going to play with a mythical Palm device that will rock the market. No one would have believed this would be happening. 

Quite a nerdy display of smartphone love but a thoughtful explanation as to Palm’s direction in the marketplace. If this isn’t inspiring to have a plan, I don’t know what is. MOTO, I’m looking at you. 

This reads like an iPhone 3.0 Software Update wish list. Poignant since so much of it is glaringly obvious. Palm Pre makes these omissions look startlingly lacking.
